the man in my life

Every time someone buys something off our registry, the man in my life (TMIML is too long, right?), calls me and updates me. Looks like someone has a case of registry-stalkaholism.

I find this...fascinating. Especially considering that registering was about as pleasant as a dentist appointment.

opinions v. decisions

We had our first wedding related blow up. I blame it on opinions that get in the way of decision making. Whose opinions? FHs. I'm not saying he isn't allowed to have opinions, I've welcomed his opinion on nearly every wedding related decision we have made. But when those opinions crop up late in the decision making...I get cranky. I may even steamroll my way through those opinions just to GET THINGS DONE.

Does this make me a 'dictator'?

Does this make me a *gasp* 'bridezilla'?

No, not when I apologize for making him feel that way and state the reason why I do the things I do. But that apology...man, sometimes it's hard to get there, you know?

the fight? started over whether to include all of our parents' names on the invites (his opinion) vs. my "together with our families" (thereby equally offending/honoring all parties) but touched on a whole range of other issues. It was ugly. I'm told that if we get through planning a wedding we'll be fine. I don't know why people love planning weddings. I really really don't.

what happens after

why, hello, Hawaii. FH was put in charge of honeymoon related planning. And has come up with some delightful plans that will involve me on a surfboard at least once during our TWO WEEK STAY. I shall now look forward to this.

Is it bad that I have the bad economy to thank for affordable prices? As long as I thank the gods that be that we still have jobs on a daily basis, methinks.

ps, I'm not going to feel bad/ashamed/embarrassed about not having a cutting edge honeymoon location. I'm going to love this in every way, shape and form. Hey, if it's good enough for Bourdain, it's good enough for me.

man code

Tuxedos. eh. *shrug* I don't care for them. FH owns one, so I guess he can wear it. I just hate bow ties, cummerbunds and those weird vests they make them wear with ties. Why all the hoopla?
what's with the vest, buddy?

I'd like a simple tie. Possibly in ivory, with his guys in a blue tie. No vests. I'd prefer suits, but got shot down by the Lazy Bride Wedding Committee that has been formed to keep me in line. The chairman is my sister, minority (dissenting in her support for me) representative is my mother and the bridesmaids making up the members. FH is brought in for expert testimony sometimes.

I casually message FH about the tuxes and I now have top hats, monocles and scepters to worry about. Sweet Jesus. Apparently I've violated the man code by even asking.

Mens Warehouse has a tuxedo Build-A-Tux tool! I'm a big fan of the Build-a-something tool. Especially the Build-a-Muppet tool at FAO schwartz. And of course the classic Build-a-South Park character. So fun.
that's me!

ho ho ho

FH doesn't read this blog (something that I'm sure I'll talk about with the therapist this week), so I feel free to share the triumphs and mostly failures of presents that I've gotten for him in the past.

1. Ipod - he called apple and returned it because it "is too expensive for just a regular old birthday and I have a shuffle"
2. Beer of the Month Club - I thought I really scored with this one, but he canceled it because "I don't have a doorman to receive the package and I don't want to look like a drunk at work" a common city problem, I have all my packages delivered to work b/c they won't leave them at the door...anyway, point is, he canceled it
3. Coldplay tickets - Bought them for the sentimental value, we re-met at a Coldplay concert and I thought he would really enjoy it. I think he secretly did enjoy it, but to this day says that I bought the tickets not for his birthday, but for myself.
4. Tennis racket - We had resolved to be more active. We played once between last christmas and this christmas. At least we played once.

So, what to do for Christmas? Buy that which he trys to steal from me, my aviator sunglasses. image via nordstrom

I'm sure he'll return them, but at this point, I know that my soul has recognized it's true match in another. Cuz I'm just as bad...
